Nexus Global – Familiar Faces in a New Scheme
Scam-Or Project looked up the crypto-MLM scheme Nexus Global and the individuals involved back in March 2018. Since then, we have published detailed investigations into its structure and expansion. Our reports prompted backlash, including threats and defamatory attacks directed at members of our team. The group surrounding Christian Michel Scheibener, Michael Thomale, Uwe Lenhoff, and Joachim Kalcher responded swiftly—and predictably.
Fortunately, former business associates of Christian Michel Scheibener provided valuable insider information, including extensive documentation. Before founding Nexus Global, Scheibener served as CEO of another crypto-MLM project, Omnia Tech, where he likely honed his skills under the guidance of Robert Velghe.
Crooks and Con Artists?
Other investigative sites like GoMoPa and the :Gerlach Report have also begun exposing the Nexus Global network. These platforms have reportedly tracked the involved parties for years. According to the :Gerlach Report:
-
Nexus Global was allegedly conceived during a meeting in a Berlin brothel.
-
Stephan Welk, a German diplomat, supposedly arranged a new passport for Michael Thomale, just as he allegedly did for OneCoin founder Ruja Ignatova.
-
Welk is said to have played a central role in the collapsed crypto-scheme Optioment, alongside Christopher Rieder and Cointed.
-
Welk allegedly participated in money laundering activities tied to OneCoin, in collaboration with Moritz Hunzinger.
While Scam-Or Project has not yet independently verified all these claims, the overlap between Nexus Global players and past scams is undeniable. The :Gerlach Report labels Scheibener, Thomale, and Welk as “crooks” and “con artists,” describing Stephan Welk as a professional criminal involved in providing false identities for criminal networks.
Veltyco Group’s Involvement
The German network linked to Nexus Global extends beyond Welk, Scheibener, and Thomale. We can confirm that Uwe Lenhoff and his public-listed UK company, VELTYCO Group, are entangled in the scheme’s global expansion.
Why? Here’s why:
-
Uwe Lenhoff invested heavily in the now-banned binary options sector.
-
Analysis of VELTYCO’s financials reveals that binary options revenues fueled the company’s early growth.
-
Lenhoff established call centers—or “boiler rooms,” according to regulators—across Europe to aggressively market binary options brands like Option888 and Zoomtrader Global.
-
Through VELTYCO, these activities were masked as legitimate marketing revenues, diverting investor funds back to Lenhoff and his network.
These transactions were funneled through an elaborate offshore structure spanning Curacao, Seychelles, the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Cyprus, and Belize. At the heart of this operation: Sofia, Bulgaria—a hotspot also linked to OneCoin.
The Sofia-Dubai Connection
Dubai has emerged as the primary hub for German-led crypto-MLM activities. Meanwhile, Sofia remains a critical base within the EU for such operations.
In 2017, Lenhoff established Varkasso Ltd in Bulgaria, later selling 51% to VELTYCO, while Joachim Kalcher retained 49% through Black Cyan Ltd. Varkasso developed 8Crypt (www.8crypt.com), a multi-wallet technology that now underpins the Nexus Global system.
According to Nexus Global’s promotional materials, investments are directed toward:
-
Sports betting
-
eSports
-
Binary options
-
ICOs
-
Cryptocurrency trading
These activities normally require regulatory approval—something Nexus Global appears to disregard, operating from offshore jurisdictions like Hong Kong and Dubai.
