The Cypriot high-risk payment processor Payabl experienced significant growth in 2022, with website traffic surging from under 50,000 visitors to over 340,000 by November 2022. This rapid expansion was largely fueled by pornographic websites, as nearly 50% of referral traffic originated from platforms like xHamsterLive and StripChat.
However, in the past 28 days, Payabl’s website traffic has plummeted by over 30%. Referral traffic from adult websites has dropped to less than 17%, and notable sources like xHamsterLive and StripChat are no longer appearing in traffic reports.
The Shift in Referral Traffic
This trend is also reflected in Similarweb’s analysis of xHamsterLive and StripChat, where Payabl has vanished from the top 5 outgoing link destinations. Until December 2022, Payabl was among the top five referral sites for both adult platforms. This suggests that either Payabl has lost its porn industry merchants or these clients have shifted to alternative payment processors. In either case, significant transaction volume and revenue have been lost.
Who’s Leading Payabl’s Referral Traffic Now?
The new top referrer to Payabl is the offshore broker RoboForex. The proportion of investment-related traffic to Payabl has grown from around 11% in Q4 2022 to over 31% in January 2023. Meanwhile, online casinos and gambling sites now contribute nearly 35% of Payabl’s referral traffic.
